De l'avis général des Angelenos (et du nôtre également), les restaurants thaïlandais de Thai Town sont franchement médiocres. C'est sans doute pour cette raison que Night + Market Song, ce petit resto ultrabranché implanté sur Sunset Boulevard tenu par Kris Yenbamroong fait un véritable tabac. Ce jeune chef diplômé de cinéma, n'a aucune formation culinaire autre que celle d'avoir grandi dans une famille de restaurateurs thaïlandais de L.A. La décoration fantaisiste, colorée et hype est le cadre idéal pour déboucher une bière thaï avant une soirée dans les bars du quartier ! Étonnamment bon marché, Night + Market Song propose une cuisine effectivement authentique, aux saveurs aiguisées et fraîches. Il faut à tout prix essayer le coconut rice, un riz gluant cuit dans du lait de coco, et, au déjeuner, le Thai Boxing Chicken, un poulet au barbecue servi traditionnellement autour des rings de boxe de Bangkok par des vendeurs de rue.

Dishes ordered: massaman curry, papaya salad
Beware of the spice!! I’m Indian and the “mild” killed me. So if you can’t handle spice, get everything with no spice (and even then they add a little).
The flavours are very intense but delicious. The massaman curry was salty but tasty. Papaya salad is lovely (minus the intense spice).
The service is outstanding though. The staff is very sweet, they take their time explaining the menu and they take care of you. When I was literally dying from the spice, they got me a bunch of things to help me feel better and then replaced the dish with a milder version.
My only complaint is that they don’t make pad thai without fish sauce :(
I will go back for sure.
