Hôtel de charme et restaurant gastronomique à l'ombre des platanes à Sare mélangeant la tradition et la modernité.

Cet hôtel de charme – maison basque du XVIe –, ancien relais de Compostelle, cultive l'esprit basque avec un mélange de traditionnel et de modernité. Une aura chaleureuse, douillette présente partout. Les chambres offrent une ambiance très raffinée et cosy ; certaines ont vue sur les montagnes. Un élégant cocon pour profiter aussi de la piscine chauffée et de son restaurant gastronomique qui fait honneur aux produits du terroir. Et toujours un grand sens de l'accueil et du service.

Nous avons passé une nuit en famille à l'hôtel Arraya et nous en sommes repartis ravis! Hotel charmant, très propre, chambre très confortable (de plus nous avions un accès direct sur le jardin et la piscine!), petit déjeuner copieux et produits de très grande qualité, personnel aimable et serviable... Beaucoup de points positifs qu'il est rare de retrouver de nos jours! Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir!

We had a lovely room with a balcony facing the village square, although having no air con in the room made it impossible to sleep at night. Apparently, some of the rooms have air con so ensure you ask for one. The room was decorated in medieval style with authentic period style furniture. The hotel itself is housed in several converted buildings, some of which go 400 years back, according to the receptionist, and the hotel building itself is pretty much a maze of corridors - really special. Our room also had a fantastic bathroom with complimentary toiletries (including body lotion which seems to be a rarity in France). The icing on the cake was the swimming pool in the garden - small but perfect for chilling on a hot day. The hotel also provides bath robes and pool towels, adding that little touch of luxury. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which seems to be quite popular with the locals too. The food was delicious and the service was great, although towards the end of the evening the staff looked swept off their feet as it got really busy. The restaurant and the hotel staff were pretty busy yet made us feel welcome and looked after during our stay. There's also a fantastic gift shop attached to the hotel and the place itself is perfectly located in the very heart of Sare, which we thought deserves the title of the prettiest village in Basque - move over Ainhoa. And don't forget to visit a local art shop just behind the boulangerie - a little treasure selling art by nine local artists.

Un accueil particulièrement chaleureux. Surtout un conseil qui nous a été donné : partir tôt au train de La Rhune car le parking est vite plein !
